Nawin Ryan Nannan is an academic with a PhD in process and energy technology and mechanical engineering from Delft University of Technology. His previous roles include:

- Academic Dean and a full professor in Sustainable Energy Technology at the Faculty of Technology of the University of Suriname.

- Consultant for WWF, Trama TecnoAmbiental, Econoler, UNDP, etc.

- Member of the supervisory board of State Oil Company for 2 years and chairman of the Risk and Compliance Committee of said body.

- Member of the Presidential study group on oil and gas development.

Since December 2023 Ryan is the ambassador of Suriname to France (accredited).
